Achieving balance is a fundamental aspect of a successful golf swing. The best way to improve your balance in golf?

Is simply to practice swinging the club. The body is amazing at sorting problems out and if you get your repitions in, you will start to see improvements.

You have all probably seen a lot of ‘balance golf’ exercises around standing on Bosu balls or swinging weights like a golf club. These have little to zero carry over to helping our balance in the swing. Standing on a Bosu ball will improve your balance whilst standing on a Bosu ball, there is little to zero carry over when swinging.

Other tips to improve your Balance in Golf:

Practice Balance Drills: Incorporate different stances into your practice. Swinging out of your boots, swinging slower, play about if possible with uphill/downhill lies. I have also experimented hitting balls while standing on one leg to develop stability. This type of drill can enhance your proprioception and some carry over to balance.

Get Stronger: By getting stronger particularly your legs & core your body will  A strong core is essential for maintaining balance in golf. Incorporate exercises that target your core muscles, such as planks and rotational movements, into your fitness routine.

Stay Relaxed and Flexible: Tension in your muscles can compromise your balance. Focus on staying relaxed during your swing, especially in your grip and shoulders. Additionally, flexibility exercises can contribute to a more fluid and balanced swing.

Gradual Improvement: Balance is a skill that can be developed over time. Make small adjustments to your technique and be patient with the process. Regular practice and attention to your balance will yield improvements in your overall golf game.

Achieving and maintaining balance in golf is a continuous process that requires attention to detail and regular practice.
